Tastings & Culinary Tour
During the autumn 2021, we welcome 18 Americans who share a common passion for gastronomy and wine! Accompanied by a well-known chief in USA, we proposed them an authentic discovery of Auvergne Rhône Alpes and Burgundy areas for a stay terroir & wine. The American agency that mandates us is looking for an experienced and serious agency that will be able to centralize all the services of the trip, and after several exchanges by mail and video-conferences, is it up to us to play!
The client has already pre-programmed her itinerary, so we adapt and organize the rhythm of the trip with her. Our «Excelys touch» is the basis of this beautiful program, like the icing on the cake!
Program, what did they do?
Composition of a neat circuit, between tastings and guided tours to meet the taste buds and gourmet expectations of the participants, for our customers to feel the best!
During their stay, customers are fully supported by the various providers contacted by us during the organization of the circuit. Laurent of Excelys Tours stay present and available to make the link between the different service providers and customers. From Lyon to Beaune, through the charming villages of Burgundy and Beaujolais, markets, wineries…
Upon arrival at the airport, guests are supported by private English-speaking driver guides. The latter provide transport for their trip during the 10 days, together with the service of a luxury minibus for group transport. Beautiful roads await them to discover every day a new painting in the colors of autumn!
The magic also works through charming and atypical accommodations, such as this private castle with swimming pool that welcomes the group for cooking moments and their nights, or even a superb luxury hotel in the heart of Lyon, on the shores of the Rhône… Attentive service and comfort guaranteed to take full advantage of the little free time that punctuate their days!
On the program, discover these beautiful regions starting with a dive in the heart of the history of Lyon, since Antiquity with the Gallo-Roman theatres, the medieval district of Old Lyon, passing by the imposing Basilica Notre-Dame de Fourvière and the mythical Revolt of the Canuts in the 19th century at the Croix-Rousse… Silk and its history are told through the Maison des Canuts, before contemplating the famous Lyon Painted Walls, without forgetting the Lyon cuisine at the heart of the Temple of Local Gastronomy, the famous Halles de Lyon. This tour is carried by a dynamic and exciting guide, who knows how to make this moment memorable for our visitors!
Then, because Lyon takes on a new face once the sun sets, a dinner is planned aboard a houseboat to admire the city of lights at night.
Following the gustatory journey through the roads of Burgundy, where the group will first pass through the inevitable region of Beaujolais and the road of the Crus, with a stop at the Colline de Fleurie. Visit the Domaine de la Madone, a glass of chardonnay in hand, before a lunch- Beaujolais Mâchon! During the program, visits will follow the charming villages of Louhans, Vonnas, Clos de Vougeot and the famous Hospices de Beaune. All punctuated with tastings of wines and local products such as mustard, truffle, oil and of course, the specialties of the great chefs Paul Bocuse and Georges Blanc, emblematic figures of these regions!
At each activity customers have the opportunity to meet and exchange with the owners of the place, as well as their passage through renowned restaurants, including a Farewell dinner in Tournus, in a starred restaurant, with original and subtle flavors… A stay rich in flavor and good mood!
How they experienced it
According to the participants, the trip seemed to them to be a perfect parenthesis to apprehend the gastronomic culture of our country, focusing in particular on 2 regions known for their gourmet riches;
The participants enjoyed being carried away during these 10 days rich in cultural and culinary discoveries. They felt reassured to have a complete support and thanked us for this support and professionalism. They easily lent themselves to the game of the French art de vivre. This stay represented a superb opportunity to vary the discoveries and pleasures by visiting different territories with Lyon, world famous metropolis and city of Enlightenment, as well as the Burgundy region with its charming villages and renowned vineyards.
This diversity was found at the level of varied activities. No time to get bored! Without knowing each other, the participants experienced a human exchange between themselves and the service providers, with moments shared around wines and local dishes.
All this in a friendly and warm atmosphere, a friendship that is created between some and sumptuous memories in mind filled with multiple flavors …

These 10 days were rich in cultural, historical, gastronomic and social learning and discovery.
